Ok, I REALLY need some pointers here!

I need to know how many calories certain activities are allowing me to burn, and I know this has to be inferred from my height, weight and age> But where the hell can I find a calculator that does that? I've been looking and looking!

I will marry you and have your babies if you know and tell me!!!!

thank you> maybe>

Slimming down [Oct. 19th, 2005|09:53 pm]

I'm a girl with really bulky calves and bigger shoulders than i would like because of muscle. Is there anyway to slim it down other than just losing the muscle? I really would like nice legs, but it's impossible with my calves. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!

Changes to Community </strong></a></strong></font></a>exercise_addict

 As of October 5, 2005

This community is for people with "body issues" and who use exercise as a form of control.

This is not a pro-ED community, but a community which supports ALL people who suffer from body issues and the issue of control through exercise and compulsive behavior.

Newbie asks: How do you beat the inner couch-potato? [Sep. 12th, 2005|08:44 pm]

Hello! This is me, illariy – yet another newbie ;-). I’ve been following the entries in this journal for about 2 weeks and I think that’s a really great community! Now, why am I here?
Well, I recently finished school. When I was studying for my finals, I got into the habit of eating chocolate, tortilla chips etc. every evening. Every single evening, yes, indeed. And gained weight, of course. Now I want to lose those extra pounds through cutting down the evening snacks and working out. I’m vegetarian and eat lots of healthy food so I think that’ll be enough even though I’m already missing my snacks like hell.

The real problem is: How can I motivate myself to work out regularly? I’m originally an intellectual lazy-bones ;-) and mainly think of brisk walking for an hour on most days of the week, some gymnastics, ropeskipping and maybe swimming, though that would be expensive.
So, how do *you* beat the inner couch-potato?

NOTE: I can’t tell you my weight right now because I need to convert it first. My BMI is currently 21 when it used to be around 18.5 or 19. Argh…

I am new to this community, but I really think it is a good place. I am rather new to communities in general, so I ask that everyone bare with me while I figure all of it out. Anyway, I just thought I would introduce myself. I don't have many friends on my list yet so if anyone wants to befriend me that would be great! Oh, yes...so about me. I am currently about 170. I need to buy a scale. I do not have one of my own. I started out the summer around 190. I am 5'8" and I wish to be down to 130 by the begining of the new year. From there, I will make a new goal. I am a vegetarian, so you would think it would be easy to eat healthy, however I crave salty foods all the time so I am working on fighting those cravings. If anyone has any comments or words of support feel free to comment. Comments are always welcome! Goodluck everyone!

First question: I've heard from people that elliptical (sp?) machines that count how many calories you burn while working out overestimate. If I give the machine my weight and it keeps track of my heart rate, how accurate can it be?

My second question is, I've been working out and eating less, and I feel like my belly has actually gotten bigger... is there a way that I could possibly be running that I might be making my stomach bigger? Like, bad posture or something?

thanks for any help.
